Participate in Green Smith Nepal’s E-Waste Awareness and Disposal Survey to help shape sustainable solutions for electronic waste management in Nepal’s urban communities.
Why E-Waste Matters More Than Ever
In today’s digital age, electronic devices are everywhere—from smartphones and laptops to chargers, batteries, and household appliances. But what happens when these devices reach the end of their life?
Electronic waste, or e-waste, is one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally. In Nepal, the rise in tech use has outpaced our ability to manage its disposal responsibly. Unregulated dumping, lack of awareness, and limited recycling infrastructure have turned e-waste into a silent environmental crisis.
At Green Smith Nepal, we’re committed to addressing this challenge head-on. That’s why we’ve launched the E-Waste Awareness and Disposal Survey—a research initiative aimed at understanding how university communities in Nepal perceive and manage e-waste.
What Is the E-Waste Survey About?
This survey is designed to gather insights from students, faculty, and staff across Nepal’s universities. It explores:
- Awareness levels about e-waste and its environmental impact
- Current disposal behaviors and challenges
- Motivations behind responsible or irresponsible practices
- Suggestions for improving e-waste management systems
The data collected will help us design targeted outreach campaigns, policy recommendations, and community programs that reflect real needs and behaviors.
Why Communities?
By focusing on communities, we aim to:
- Understand generational attitudes toward e-waste
- Identify gaps in knowledge and infrastructure
- Promote campus-wide recycling and awareness initiatives
- Encourage student-led sustainability efforts
What You’ll Be Asked in the Survey
The questionnaire is divided into five key sections:
1. Demographic Information
Helps us understand the background of respondents—age, gender, field of study, and role on campus.
2. Awareness and Perceptions
Assesses familiarity with the concept of e-waste, understanding of its risks, and sources of information (e.g., social media, school, news).
3. Disposal Behavior
Explores how respondents currently manage e-waste—whether they store, donate, recycle, or discard it improperly.
4. Motivation and Barriers
Identifies what drives or discourages proper disposal, including convenience, incentives, peer influence, and privacy concerns.
5. Suggestions and Feedback
Gathers ideas for improving e-waste management on campus and in the community.
